Gossip Girl Spoiler

Any Gossip Girl fans that are yet to watch the finale, I suggest you look away now as I simply cannot contain my excitement any longer!

When realising this was the last series, I couldn’t help but feel completely gutted having watched every single episode from start to finish. There have been fights, break-ups, romances, marriages, deaths and even sex with a minor up until now, and it’s a huge shame to see it all come to an end.

As expected and long anticipated, Gossip Girl’s identity was revealed in the form of none other than Lonely Boy – Dan Humphrey!! Unfortunately for me, the surprise was ruined as I was a couple of days behind on watching it and the news had already broke on my Twitter feed but I couldn’t help but feel a little more love for Dan when he described why he did it. Sick of admiring Serena from afar, a friend told him that you know you’ve made it when people start talking about you. Setting up the Gossip Girl page and posting about himself subtly was the ideal way to get himself noticed.

As well as Gossip Girl himself being identified, the voice behind the famous ‘XOXO Gossip Girl’ made her debut in the show, playing herself in the making of Dan’s movie, was Kristen Bell.

To guarantee that they ended on the ultimate high, what better than for our two favourite couples to tie the knot. Yes, the final episode sees Chuck and Blair finally, after many will-they, won’t-they moments, exchanging rings just before Chuck is arrested for running from the police – if that doesn’t scream dream wedding then I don’t know what does. As always, Blair looked incredible in a pale blue lace, floor-length gown with Chuck wearing a statement white suit with blue trimmings.

In the last five minutes we zoom ahead to five years later and the on-off couple, Serena and Dan, surrounded by our favourite cast members and new addition – HENRY BASS – Blair and Chuck’s little boy *yay*, also get married. Serena looked equally as gorgeous as her best friend in a gold and white gown; neither your typical wedding attire.

If you’re a hard-core GG fan like myself, then it’s enough to bring a tear to your eye. The perfect ending to the perfect show.

Here is a clip of the last five minutes – a sneak peak for those who haven’t already seen it and a little treat for those who have. It’s not like I’ve already watched it four times :-/

Christmas wish list

Selfridges 'No Noise' room

January 2013 sees the opening of Selfridges ‘No Noise’ shopping area. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, the area will be solely for silent shopping, where shoes and mobile phones are to be left at the door for a tranquil shopping experience.
The idea is inspired by founder Harry Gordon Selfridge and will be situated in the store’s Ultralounge, featuring a Quiet Shop for guests to purchase de-branded products as well as an edit of pieces from Spring collections from designers such as Jil Sander and Maison Martin Margiela.
Guests are also encouraged to take part in meditation sessions and make use of the headspace pods that come as part of the experience.
Selfridges creative director Alannah Weston says: the room “invites customers to find a moment of peace in a world where we are bombarded by a cacophony of information and stimulation” – WWD reports.
To take full advantage of this unique experience, head to Selfridges this January!

Matthew Williamson releases short film

What better way to celebrate 15 years in the fashion industry than to make a film about it?
This year saw Matthew Williamsons 15th Anniversary in fashion and to celebrate the occasion, he decided to open up his life in a short film about his work.
"It's about the dreams of my 15-year-old self imagining this ethereal universe full of beautiful girls in these amazing dresses," explains the designer. "I was also really thrilled to work with the amazing Andrea Riseborough too who plays my mum."
For once however, we won’t be looking on the big screen to find stars such as Sienna Miller, Fillol Cordier, Poppy Delevingne and of course, Riseborough, as this short film is in conjunction with Swarovksi and Net-A-Porter, this is the only place you can watch it when its launches next week.
In an interview with Vogue, Williamson passed on his own advice and what the 20th anniversary may bring: "Confidence and belief in yourself and your vision is absolutely paramount. The fashion industry is tough - be prepared to take advice and criticism along the way, but have unwavering belief in your vision.
"This is the next incredibly exciting time for the brand and we hope to take it to the next level. So ideally the big 2-0 will be bigger and better. I'm looking forward to now adding new layers to the DNA of our brand as we begin the next chapter in our story.”

Anne Hathaway weds Adam Shulman

The rumours have been confirmed – Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman on Sunday evening in a gorgeous, vintage-inspired Valentino gown. Describing her as “like my daughter,” Valentino created a specially-made dress for Anne to wear for her intimate, California wedding last weekend, where around 150 guests attended.
The luxurious wedding started on Friday evening at the Ventana Inn and Spa where the rehearsal dinner took place. The wedding itself was then held on a private estate nearby on Sunday, with just close friends and family attending.
After confirming their engagement last November, Hathaway was soon showing off a diamond ring designed by her husband-to-be, a signifier of what was to come perhaps?
The couple are said to have enlisted the help of many designers, planners and friends to help organise the big day, including Yifat Oren and Stephanie Cove, both of which helped plan Natalie Portman’s wedding earlier this year.
And not forgetting the most important part, the gown. An off-the-shoulder, vintage-inspired dress with a full-length veil and headpiece that couldn’t have suited Anne any better. The lace detailing gave the dress its innocent finish, perfect for Anne’s down-to-earth personality. It was the perfect dress and the cherry on top of the cake for this wedding.

Victoria's Secret sued for selling cheap knockoffs!

To any normal, middle-class person, Victoria’s Secret would seem anything but cheap, however former hosiery supplier Zephyrs are suing VS for selling cheap ‘knockoffs’ of their products.
The well-known lingerie company have been accused of breaching a 2001 agreement with Zephyrs by selling copies of their stockings. Although Zephyrs stopped supplying Victoria’s Secret in 2011, the brand are said to be misleading customers by using images of Zephyrs products to sell their own, cheaper versions.
"Victoria's Secret changed the product in the packaging but didn't change anything else except Made in Canada on the back of the package. It used to say Made in Italy," Zephyrs' legal representative, Joseph Gioconda, told WWD. "We are planning to proceed and will be serving papers to Victoria's Secret. They will have 21 days to respond."
Zephyrs are asking for the advertising to be corrected along with a cash settlement for the labels use of unfair competition and false advertising.

Minnie Mouse poses in Lanvin

Minnie Mouse poses in Lanvin for Barneys Christmas campaign ‘Electric Holiday’. The New York based store has teamed up with Disney to put a fashionable spin on the festival season with characters such as Minnie Mouse, Cruella de Vil and Goofy dressed head-to-toe in our favourite designer gear.
Designers taking part in the campaign include Dolce & Gabbana who are dressing Daisy Duck, Balenciaga who are dressing Mickey, Nina Ricci for Snow White and Balmain for Goofy; a high-end fashion makeover many people would die for.
Dennis Freedman, Barneys creative director, said: "The important thing to me was always that it had to be authentic. It really had to hit the nail on the head in every detail. This is a lot of fun.”
Freedman also admitted that last year’s Lady Gaga Christmas grotto was a hard act to follow.
The characters will appear as still images alongside a short film focussing on Minnie Mouse’s dream of being in the front row at a fashion show with her designs being modelled on the catwalk by her
Disney counterparts.
This collaboration is one of many for Disney this year as they have partnered with Harrods for a Christmas display as well as Minnie acting as a muse for a range of different London Fashion Week designers. This campaign is a perfect way to end a very fashionable year for Disney.
The campaign will launch on November 14th with a three-dimensional light show to pay tribute to the famous electric parades.

Barbour and Paul Smith join forces

Barbour has just released a fantastic new capsule collection collaborating with Paul Smith. The limited edition collection, designed for autumn/winter 12-13 is designed for both men and women that have a love for Barbour’s recognisable British style.
"I have always been a fan of Barbour," said Paul Smith. "This has been a great opportunity to collaborate on a collection that combines the British heritage and identities of both companies."
The clothes stick to the style that would be expected from Barbour but have a Paul Smith touch with some of the classic items being given a makeover. Bright linings and patterns have been installed in some of the coats and are repeated in some of the t-shirts, jeans and shirts made to match.
"With any collaboration that we do, it has to add interest and create something special for our brand," said Ian Bergin, Barbour's head of menswear. "By bringing together Barbour and Paul Smith Jeans, two very British companies, we have created a collection that is unique and fun, yet still reflects the core values of the Barbour brand."
The prices for the new collection range from £39.95 - £499 and you can find it in Barbour stores now!

David Beckham bares all on Regent Street

It was only a matter of time before a statue of our beloved David Beckham popped up somewhere in London and it seems Regent Street have snapped it up with a pair of 10-foot high DB statues outside the H&M store.
To celebrate the launch of the footballer’s second body-wear collection, the tributes are among a series of nine other Beckham statues outside H&M stores across the US that see the star in nothing but underwear – very suiting to his collection and every women’s dream!

As the collection hit the shelves, 60 lucky men were given a free David Beckham for H&M vest, just for walking past the store! However, the statues will not be outside for long as there are plans to move them inside the store so hurry down to get your photographs with them ASAP.

Kardashian Kollection to hit UK stores

Sound too good to be true? Well I can tell you it isn’t – the Kardashian’s are coming to the UK! A dream come true for all the Kardashian fans, a chance to see the girls in real life and not through their TV screens.
Dorothy Perkins has revealed that, along with BHS, they will be stocking the Kardashian Kollection A/W 2012 range in stores this November. More than 250 Dorothy Perkins stores will stock the sought-after collection, including eight concession stores within BHS and will be available online at dorothyperkins.com.
In an interview with Grazia Daily, the girls admitted: "We’re looking forward to expanding our line and making Kardashian Kollection available to so many more people. We pride ourselves in having a line that is affordable and yet of great quality and we’re excited to bring it to new territories.”
And what can be expected from the collection? With Kim’s pre-Kanye figure-hugging style, a dash of Kourtney’s relaxed chic and a sprinkle of Khloe’s edgy, hippy-esk wardrobe; there really will be something for everyone. More than 100 pieces will feature in our stores, including clothing, footwear and handbags. Sir Philip Green even commented on the girls influence on his customers: “Having reviewed the product, I felt that there was an excellent fit for Dorothy Perkins. I believe our customers will love the fashion looks, they passionately follow celebrity lifestyle, and the Kardashian sisters rank top when it comes to whom they relate to in the fashion stakes.”

Does this mean the Kardashian girls will be here for the launch? Let’s hope so!

Africa Fashion Week London 2012

This weekend saw Spitalfields Market Hall host the African Fashion Week London 2012 and what better weekend to hold such an event. With the Olympics in process, all eyes are on London whether on or off the tracks. The two day event set an unprecedented platform for international designers to showcase their collections, with thousands of attendees present to witness them. As well as that, AFWL is the perfect stop for buyers looking for fresh, new designers.
Now in its second year, the brains behind the event, Nigerian entrepreneur Ronke Ademiluyi said: “My aim is to create more visibility for African designers and to create a one-stop shop for the public. We were expecting 500 people last year and almost 5,000 turned up. It was something people had clearly been waiting for. We were astounded by the level of support shown to AFWL last year. This time round, we are taking things to a higher level, with a bigger venue it's hoped the event will reach a higher magnitude.  By promoting African fashion globally we hope to integrate African countries into the fashion industry and also contribute to the reduction of poverty by developing the fashion and textile industry.”
This year 60 designers took part in AFWL, one of which was Adebayo Jones who provided the gala finale. He said: “As I was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, I hope my participation will inspire young designers.”
All designers are inspired by African prints and designs and interpret them into all of their designs, whether for clothing, accessories, jewellery or beauty products, all of which were showcased at the event.
As well as the catwalks, in true Spitalfields style, there was an array of stalls and award winning restaurants around for attendees to make the most of the event.

Kate Moss reveals book cover

It’s the book that everyone has been talking about – the much anticipated ‘Kate’ by Kate Moss and although the book is not due for release until November 2012, a sneak peek has been unleashed in the form of the book cover. Eight covers have been revealed, all taken by different photographers including Mario Testino, Hedi Slimane and Nick Knight, and all of which were taken over several different stages of the Kate Moss’ legendary career.
The book is set to be a personal account of her career to date and these photographs definitely illustrate her ever changing look perfectly. The Vogue cover girl’s image has changed more times than David Beckham has changed his hair style – from an innocent, makeup free look to the ultimate rock and roll queen.
The book and it’s £50 price tag will hit stores in November.

Lauren Conrad - designer turned environmentalist?

It seems Lauren Conrad has done it again. As if we weren’t all jealous enough of her, she has now used her sharp eye for design to create a range of eco-friendly accessories – an incredible designer, every fashion inspired girls icon and now an environmentalist, could she be more perfect?

After her success with Paper Crown and various other clothing lines, it is no doubt that XO(eco) is going to be a hit. Our beloved LC has teamed up with Blue Avocado to launch the collection that features an array of different bags, from handbags to bags for your hair straighteners, all of which are made from repreve, a fabric that is created from recycled bottles.

The line is available from Amazon now and is definitely not one you will want to miss.

Rihanna's best collaboration yet?

Rihanna is known for her wacky way of dressing, from spike/studs to the tiniest bandeaus, so when news broke of her collaboration with high street giant River Island, I couldn’t help but feel an array of mixed emotions.
While mostly excited at the idea of being able to dress like Rihanna and even just to wear something that she has been a part of making, if the collection is anything like her own style, it could lead to a few cases of inappropriate dress – let’s just hope the older generations stay away from any studded leather shorts and boob tubes!
Rihanna said: “I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family-run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”
It seems River Island are moving up in the competition against rivals Topshop and H&M with a huge celebrity fan-base, including Lana Del Rey, Whitney Port and Beyonce, a flashback to their beginning with the Chelsea Girl range, River Islands former name in the seventies, and now this huge collaboration under their belt.
For some time now, it has been obvious that the pop princess has a huge love for British fashion, as showcased in her music videos and everyday life. In the video for ‘We Found Love’ she was sporting creepers, acid wash denim and bomber jackets; really working the edgy fashion vibe that British designers love. We can only hope that this may be a preview of what to expect.

Launching in Spring 2013, I cannot wait to see what she comes up with as it is set to be her best collaboration yet.

Facebook inspired Make-up?

Make-up inspired by Facebook? It certainly is a first and Yves Saint Laurent has definitely pulled it out of the bag. ‘Devoted to Fans #1’ is a limited edition palette that features four of the trademark colours, that when put together are associated with Facebook - blue, black, grey and white. And just like the social networking site, it seems to be a big hit.

The palette, although only available to people who were subscribed to the Yves Saint Laurent Fragrances and Beauty page on Facebook, managed to sell out in a matter of hours. Priced at £39 each, all 1650 of them flew off the shelves on the day of release. Could this be the start of social networking’s influence on our beauty products?
Originally made as a reward for fan’s loyalty, the ‘#1’ gives opportunity for a ‘#2’, ‘#3’ and so on, so if you haven’t already, subscribe to the fan page and make sure you don’t miss out on any other exclusive chances.

The Stella McCartney scholarship programme

The exciting news of the Condé Nast college has been unveiled in recent weeks and it seems Stella McCartney has decided to go one better. Although it may seem like the perfect opportunity, how many students can afford the £19,560 fees for a year at the Condé Nast college when many are struggling to keep up with standard university fees as it is? Stella has the perfect solution.
She has recently unveiled her new scholarship programme which will fund fashion students at Central Saint Martins along with a year-long placement at Stella McCartney when they finish – something I’m sure students will be jumping at. The only catch is that students who win the scholarship will commit not to use fur, leather or any other animal harming products as part of their work – which I’m pretty sure most students wouldn’t mind giving up for a few years.
Stella, who attended the university herself, understands the pressure on students in the current financial climate. She said: "To get to a college like this is so hard for so many talented young people," McCartney said. "For that reason, I am setting up this scholarship and I encourage other fortunate fashion houses to do the same."
The scholarships will be awarded in October 2012.

Afro Hair and Beauty Live 2012

This June, The Business Design Centre in Islington played host to Afro Hair and Beauty Live who were celebrating their 30th year.
On the 3-4 June, over 100 exhibitors and even more guests came together to experience two exciting days of stage shows, hair demonstrations and pampering experiences. Top stylists and beauticians including Retailers included Black Beauty & Hair, Hair by Sleek, Miss Jessie’s and Mixed Chicks were there to offer tips and advice on the best beauty products and regimes.
The event is all about hair, beauty and lifestyle and the freebies on arrival supported this, inviting people to visit as many stands as possible.
Research has shown that black women spend more on hair and beauty products than white women and Afro Hair and Beauty Live definitely inspires this, with an array of products on sale, many at discounted prices and the chance for them to be treated to makeovers and have their hair done.
Inside the event was a salon where visitors could receive treatments, a ‘Natural Zone’ were renowned artists were on hand to advise people who would rather not use chemicals and heavy products and the beauty and accessories zone where henna and nail artists were ready and waiting to give henna tattoos and nail art.
To top it all off, there was The Afro Chic Fashion Show which incorporated the style of the event with many African prints and designs, all inspired by the clothes worn in African and Caribbean countries.
Having once been just a small trade show, Afro Hair and Beauty Live has grown into a lifestyle event for young black women everywhere.

It's finally here

Designer DIY

Home improvement stores have admitted that they believe a rise in sales in red paint recently are due to women taking on a DIY approach to the famous Christian Louboutin heels.
"There was no way I could afford to buy a pair of Louboutin heels, but I had my heart set on them and felt the pressure to be fashionable at the occasion," shopper Claire Stevenson told theTelegraph. "I bought a £20 pair of plain black shoes and a tester pot and recreated the designer look at home. I carefully painted the soles, let them dry overnight, and by the next day they were ready to wear. I received so many compliments at the wedding about my gorgeous shoes but I didn't have the heart to confess they were DIY fakes. It was such a success I plan on doing the same for another pair of heels."
Duracoat’s Flame and Show Stopper paints, which are near-identical to the hue used by Louboutin, have increased in sales by 40 per cent compared to this time last year and Homebase believe it is down to women faking the red soled shoes.
"Many people tend to look at magazines to get the right paint colour for walls and furniture, but we've noticed significant numbers of girl’s colour-matching tester pots to pictures of designer shoes in fashion magazines," said Homebase Acton manager Peter Rooney. "They have also asked staff for tips on how to paint on leather or rubber."

Earlier this year, Zara came under fire by Louboutin for copying his signature red soles, but what could he possibly do to stop a whole city doing the same thing?

A dream is a wish your heart makes

What better way to honour the re-release of Disney’s Cinderella on DVD and Blu-ray than to recreate the famous glass slipper?
News of a collaboration between Disney and Christian Louboutin first came about in April – a dream come true for many wannabe princesses, and after three months we finally get to preview the ‘glass slipper’.
"Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes," said Louboutin for Vogue. "Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale."
The design see’s heels covered in crystals, butterfly embellishments and the signature Louboutin red soles – the perfect way to modernise such an iconic shoe and there is no doubt that they are fit for a princess!
Cinderella is due for release this autumn so until then, here are the sought after images of the shoes every girl has been waiting for.

Capes on the red carpet?

There’s no doubt that this summer is set to explode with blockbuster films featuring everyone’s favourite superheroes but it seems that our designers are also jumping on the superhero bandwagon. Celebrities have been appearing on the red carpets wearing none other than a cape, who would have thought?
Noticeable at the MET ball two months ago on celebs such as Lana Del Rey and Bianca Brandolini D’Adda, and gracing the runways at the couture shows this week, it seems to cape is catching on, with one style really shining through – the tan-trench cape as seen on Victoria Beckham and our lovely Queen.

Other celebs spotted sporting the cape include Andre Leon Tally who added a cape to his tux, Sarah Jessica Parker who matched a floor-length cape to her scarlet red Giambattista Valli gown and Nicki Minaj who attempted the ‘Pope’ look with a wacky cape.

Stephane Rolland and Alexis Mabille have added a new spin on the cape/dress combo but morphing them into one for the couture runways (see below).

Is this a fashion that will catch on or is it more of a ‘catwalk only’ craze? Watch this space.

The new Material Girl

Madonna and Lourdes’ fashion line Material Girl has secured itself yet another muse to add to the oh-so-famous collection as it enters into another season.

Georgia May Jagger joins Taylor Momsen and Kelly Osborne in the list of famous faces as she poses in different scenes, promoting not only the fashion line but also Madonna’s MDNA tour. The backgrounds for the campaign include backstage and on stage at one of Madonna’s gig venues. ‘I spent a lot of my childhood backstage hanging out around amps,’ said Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. ‘That was where we chilled when we were younger. So this photo shoot brought back a lot of memories.’

The collection is made up of florals, checks and leather and is aimed at teens that sport a punk-pop sensibility. Due for release before the school term starts again; it gives teens just enough time to stock up before heading back to school after a long summer.

For Georgia, this adds to a very impressive resume that includes Rimmel, H&M and Versace, not bad for someone who is only 20 years old.

The only question now, could this fashion collaboration spark a musical one?

Topshop featuring Richard Nicoll

A wedding dress from Topshop? Who would have thought?
Young brides-to-be all over the country will be pleased to know that Topshop have unveiled their collaboration with Richard Nicoll – a bridal range called ‘Tie the Knot’.
The collection is aimed at women who are looking for a younger alternative to the floor length ball gown wedding dress that for years have blessed the aisles. This year, the once in a lifetime gown is to be replaced by a shorter, more ‘night out on the town’ style dress.
With a price range from £75-£350, any bride would be laughing, but is it a collection suitable for everyone?
The answer to that has to be no. Reviews all over the internet have slated the collection, deeming it ‘tacky’ and ‘disappointing’. Nicoll is known for his delicate, nude tones and dainty designs and with celebrity clients including Kate Bosworth and Keira Knightley, the collection was expected to portray such elegance, but with short hemlines and lingerie detailing, it isn’t a shock to hear that the dresses are questioned for being inappropriate.
However, all is not lost as the dresses do make perfect party pieces for those who don’t mind digging deep and splashing out a little.

Urban Decay go against their word

Urban Decay, who were once so proud of their “We don’t do animal testing. How could anyone?” tagline, have decided to sell their products in China. The company, along with many other brands such as Avon, Estee Lauder and MAC, have decided to make the move to the Chinese market, accepting the potential animal-testing regulations.
Urban Decay built their reputation on providing cruelty-free cosmetics but it has now been confirmed in a statement released by the BUAV that they are taking away Urban Decay’s ‘cruelty free’ certification under the Humane Cosmetics or Humane Products Standards. The brand will also lose their license to use the Leaping Bunny trademark on their products.
Urban Decay have a very strong fan base who favour the brand for their views on animal cruelty so it’s expected that the decision has caused controversy in the media. Will their loyal fan base still be interested in a brand that isn’t so loyal to its customers?

Is Diego Boneta the next Zac Efron?

Taking the lead role in the musical blockbuster ‘Rock of Ages’, it was easy for Diego Boneta to quickly gain the title ‘the next Zac Efron’ but the big question on everyone’s lips is who exactly is he?

Diego has already made it as a star in his home country by appearing on various TV shows and releasing two albums. His hard work seems to have paid off as this singer/songwriter has bagged himself two Latin Grammy nominations and two Latin MTV Awards nominations and he is still at the precious age of just 21!

So where did he come from? Diego Gonzalez is Mexican and is certainly a man of many talents. Not only does he write his own songs but he can also speak English, Spanish and Portuguese. He first appeared on our screens in Mean Girls 2 as the delightful Tyler Adams.

Moving on to bigger things, Diego has received nothing but praise for his performance in Rock of Ages, citing his experience as “a dream come true.” Since auditioning, Diego has received the 2012 Rising Star Award from CinemaCon and is currently working on a third album as well as shooting for new MTV show Underemployed. It looks set to be a massive few years for this aspiring young star.

Rock of Ages is in cinemas now so be sure to check it out.
